Cambridge Springs 45 Greenville 47
Well I hopped in my truck and made the 1/10th of a mile trek to Cambridge Springs High School tonight to catch the Greenville/Cambridge game but before I could even be seated the Concession Stand cried out my name. Last years defending champion Stand got off to a great start tonight by giving me a Chili Cheese Dog that was fantastic. I must warn all the other Stands vying for the top spot on my ratings board that the Spa did not stand pat from last year. They have added to their menu of Dogs, and the Walking Taco the Baked Potato. Their only setback would be that they were all sold out by the second game. Yogi Berra once said, "No one goes to that restaurant anymore because they are always too crowded." If not careful, no one will buy your potatoes anymore because you are always sold out. That aside, I place them solidly in first place to start the season.Oh yeah, there was a game played as well. It was mostly a see saw battle with the Spa leading most of the way by 2 or 4 points. In the end Greenville got the Devils with a 47-45 win. Chris Young of Cambridge Springs was the games high scorer with 16 points and he was joined in double figures by Larry Green who tallied 10. Greenville had three players in double figures with Tyler Blaschak with 14, Josh Chisholm 12, and Jordan Batt with 11.
Tyler Blaschak showed good leadership and high energy for Greenville and I was impressed with the athletic ability of Sophomore Jordan Batt who appears to have a bright future. I enjoyed seeing Greenville using the old pick and roll successfully on several occasions. That play is as old as I am but it still works much better than I do.
For Skinny's squad I thought point guard Chris Young had a good night and I was impressed with the defense of Tyler Dunton. Adam Sinclair gives the team great energy but he was sitting beside the coach most of the night with foul trouble. Fun, fun, fun! I love basketball.
I just need to add that Heather's report from last night about matching shoes did not fall on deaf ears or blind eyes for that matter. I caught myself checking to see if every one's shoes matched and they do round out the uniform nicely.
It was really nice to see the Engelbert family!
